According to an OpenAI blog post, OpenAI is introducing a new study mode for ChatGPT that "assists you in working through problems step by step instead of just getting an answer." ChatGPT Free, Plus, Pro, and Team customers will be able to access it today, while ChatGPT Edu users will be able to do so "in the next few weeks."
ChatGPT may provide you with interactive prompts that combine "Socratic questioning, hints, and self-reflection prompts" to help you learn more about your question when you ask it while in study mode. Additionally, according to OpenAI, courses will be customized for users based on "questions that assess skill level and memory from previous chats," and study mode responses would be arranged "into easy-to-follow sections that highlight the key connections between topics." Quizzes can also be found in study mode.

Presenting ChatGPT's study mode, a learning tool that guides you through issues step-by-step rather than only providing an answer.
With OpenAI rival Anthropic launching its own "Learning mode" feature for Claude in April, AI startups are vying for college students' interest. Study mode and other features can persuade students to utilize ChatGPT for learning rather than quick fixes. Users will need to encourage themselves to use the function rather than depending on ChatGPT to provide a response or using the AI chatbot to cheat, though, because they can disable study mode whenever they choose.
According to OpenAI, "custom system instructions" that the business developed in collaboration with educators, scientists, and pedagogy specialists power the study mode. Because it enables the company to "quickly learn from real student feedback and improve the experience — even if it results in some inconsistent behavior and mistakes across conversations," OpenAI chose to employ personalized instructions. In the future, OpenAI claims it intends to include "deeper personalization," goal-setting throughout conversations, and clearer visualizations.
Additionally, Google today revealed new features for some of its AI products that may be helpful to kids. While NotebookLM's new Video Overviews feature uses AI to produce slideshows with narration, AI Mode in Search is receiving a new canvas mode that can assist you in creating things like study guides.
